BRITISH COLUMBIA ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE WORLD SCHOOLS
Education for a Better World
British Columbia Association of IB World Schools (formerly IBBC) is a registered society in British Columbia, Canada. All authorized IB schools in BC may be members. The school is represented in the organization by the IB Program Coordinator. The Association has a board of directors and an elected executive.
The Association's role is to provide support and shared practice to schools in the province that are operating an IB program. The organization is the means by which IB is represented to the BC Ministry of Education and to universities, in order to achieve greater recognition by these bodies for the work of IB students.
The association has also acted as the host for a number of opportunities for IB students to get together with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and the efforts of the association and the IB office in Vancouver, there is now excellent recognition by the Ministry of Education. Students receive credit and provincial scholarships specifically for their IB courses.
In a matching process, Universities in BC and in fact most of Canada and the US now offer good recognition for IB work for purposes of admission and/or placement and /or credit and/or scholarship. The Association, in conjunction with the IB, will continue to refine the recognition available .
