The British Columbia Association of International Baccalaureate World Schools (BCAIBWS) is a registered society in the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada.
BCAIBWS is the body that represents and promotes the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme to the BC Ministry of Education and post-secondary institutions throughout the province. This part of our work ensures that students receive credit for and, in some circumstances, provincial scholarships specifically for their IB courses. Our work also extends in partnerships with other Canadian provincial IB organizations to ensure that there is appropriate recognition for IB courses across Canadian and American universities for the purposes of admission, placement, credit or scholarship.
BCAIBWS also provides a number of development, support and shared practice opportunities to schools and students in BC that offer an IB programme.
In addition, the Association hosts a number of global IB professional development workshops throughout the year for teachers, coordinators and administrators.
